More work moves into the automation layer

Cork Cyber announced expanded automated patching and vulnerability-management capabilities on September 25, describing integration with existing remote monitoring and management tools and use of Chocolatey and Winget. The company says the coverage spans more than 13,000 software titles. It also announced expanded access to live security data through its MCP capabilities.

Read the denominator behind the claim

The company reports that its automation closes 77 percent of eligible tickets. That qualifier matters: it is not a claim that the product resolves 77 percent of every customer’s security risks. The announcement is a company-issued release, and the reported performance has not been independently tested by Cyber Security Journal. Buyers should ask how eligibility is defined and how unsuccessful or reopened work is counted.

Use the customer’s maintenance window as a test

For an MSP serving a small business or professional-services firm, the meaningful unit of work is a safe, verified change on a real endpoint. Our recommendation is to pilot the workflow on an agreed application set with named customer owners. Include machines that are offline during the window, applications that require a restart and a case in which the change must be rolled back. Record whether the system escalates those exceptions clearly.

Connect the ticket to the resulting state

The acceptance record should show the before-and-after version or other relevant remediation evidence, the time of the check and any remaining exception. A provider should also be able to explain how automation authority is limited across customers. Reduced administrative work can be valuable, but the service promise rests on a verified endpoint state and an intelligible exception queue. That is the evidence a customer needs when deciding whether the new capability improves their managed service.
